The LGBTQIA+ community in Margate and Thanet has massively grown in recent years and we want to make sure we’re reaching as many people and giving the community as many opportunities as possible. Margate Pride has secured some funding from Arts Council England to deliver our Summer festival, and as part of that we are offering an Open Call opportunity for queer artists from the global majority.
Margate Pride recognises that queer artists from the global majority face additional barriers to accessing opportunities in the UK art world and, as an intersectional organisation, we want to address that disparity and dedicate this opportunity to those members of our community.
The successful artist will be awarded a fee of £1200 to produce a show that will be on display at a gallery on Northdown Road in Margate for 2 weeks in August to coincide with Margate Pride Art Map, a part of the Margate Pride Festival. They will also receive production support, marketing and promotion of their exhibition, and some budget towards installation.
The show will be fully invigilated, but artists are welcome to be at the gallery whilst open and are encouraged to put on a workshop or talk as part of the show.
No Additional fees for travel or accommodation.
